Orta has explained why the West Yorkshire outfit decided to send the 20-year-old forward on loan to VVV-Venlo.

“We believe that Jay-Roy has a strong future ahead of him and we feel that regularly playing games is going to be a key part of his development.

“We wish him every success this season and we are confident he can only benefit from this experience.”

Future at Leeds United?

Grot struggled to make a massive impact at Leeds last season following his move from NEC Nijmegen in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee decision by The Daily Star to be worth £1.5 million.

The youngster was able to make just one start and 19 substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.

Orta’s comments suggest that Grot does have a future at Leeds, although the 20-year-old will have to do extremely well in the Eredivisie next season in order to impress the chiefs back at Elland Road.
