Victor Orta says signing players for Leeds mid-season is not his preferred option.
Leeds may have the best part of £15 million for Chris Wood burning a hole in their pocket after his departure, but they may still not spend it in January.
Sporting director Victor Orta has admitted that signing players in the January transfer window is an option he hopes not to need to explore too much.
Speaking to Leeds’ official Facebook page, Orta said that he will spend if he is required to.
He said: “I prefer to use the summer and use January for specific situations which will be solved.
“Hopefully in January we don’t sign a lot of players, this is a good sign our team is on a roll.”
Leeds have brought in over a dozen players in the past transfer window, goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers.
Now is time to see how they settle in over the coming months, and the early signs are positive.
The Whites are in third place in the Championship after five games, currently unbeaten.
Leeds have also signed several players for their under-23 team, and the hope is that one or more of them can step up over the coming season and fight for a first team place.
