The transfer window is open, and it looks as though Leeds United may be about to make their first senior signing.
Indeed, Junior Firpo looks as though he’ll be first through the door, and in our view, his arrival will make Marcelo Bielsa’s squad even stronger.
The Spaniard will come in as a replacement for the departing Ezgjan Alioski, who is a free agent after his contract with the Whites expired, and when you compare the two players, you’d have to say there’s no context.
Now, that’s not to say that we don’t like Alioski as a player. As a matter of fact, we believe him to be one of the most hard-working and energetic players Leeds had last season, but Firpo is a level above.
With all due respect to Alioski, he never really shined in this Leeds side, he was a remnant of the Massimo Cellino era, and before Marcelo Bielsa came in he looked nothing more than a Championship player.
However, Firpo is several steps above that level.

This is a bona fide Champions League footballer. A player Barcelona once paid €18m (£15m) for and a player who has always been at the top-level.
At the age of 24, he can still improve a lot as well, and with his physical qualities and versatility, Bielsa should be able to mould him into a true Premier League star.
Orta had a big job on his hands following up on Leeds’ successful 2020 summer transfer window, but with Firpo seemingly set to sign, he’s already making strides towards making this summer another window to remember at Elland Road.
Leeds come into this season with higher expectations, and with Firpo in the squad, there’s no reason why they can’t meet them.
