Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Victor Orta has been speaking about Stuart Dallas and his incredible versatility.

The Northern Irishman won Leeds’ Player of the Year award last term, and his ability to play in a number of positions made him a key man in Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Orta knows just how valuable Dallas’ versatility is, and he’s claimed that he can play in four different roles.

What’s been said?

Orta was speaking about Leeds’ midfield options when he got onto the topic of Dallas.

“We have a player like Stuart Dallas who sorts a lot of situations because he can play in four positions and that gives you an idea of the position we are in. We are in a really good kind. I still believe that. We have the midfielders who do the most running in the league, by far we are the team with the most kilometres in the Premier League,” Orta said.

Only four?

Orta says that Dallas can play in four positions, but we’re actually inclined to disagree.

Now, we’re not saying that the Director of Football doesn’t know his own squad, but he may be underestimating Dallas a little bit.

The 29-year-old is perfectly capable of playing in both full-back roles, on either wing and in central midfield, so that’s at least five positions.

That’s before we even consider the difference between a wing-back in Bielsa’s 3-3-1-3 or a full-back in his 4-1-4-1, so it could even be argued that he can play seven roles.

Regardless, Dallas’ versatility is certainly something to behold.
