The new Sunderland midfielder has backed his former West Bromwich Albion teammate to succeed at Celtic.
Newly-signed Sunderland forward Victor Anichebe has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Cristian Gamboa will be a success at Celtic.
Gamboa joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic from Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window.
Anichebe, who recently moved to Sunderland on a free transfer, played with the 26-year-old at West Brom.
The 28-year-old former Everton forward has backed Gamboa, who can operate as a right-back or as a midfielder, to be a success at Celtic.
Gamboa struggled for playing time at West Brom during the 2015-16 campaign and did not really make a huge impact during his time in the Premier League.
The Costa Rica international was able to play just once in the league for the Baggies last season, while during the 2014-15 campaign, the former Rosenborg man made only 10 league appearances for West Brom.
Celtic are favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and will also feature in the group stage of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are likely to be fighting for survival in the Premier League during the 2016-17 campaign.
