LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 23: Donny van de Beek of Manchester United stretches for the ball under pressure from Seamus Coleman of Everton during the Carabao Cup Quarter Final match between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park on December 23, 2020 in Liverpool, England. A limited number of fans (2000) are welcomed back to stadiums to watch elite football across England. This was following easing of restrictions on spectators in tiers one and two areas only. Victor Anichebe has claimed that Everton’s deadline day capture, Donny van de Beek, will ‘flourish’ under Frank Lampard.

The former Toffees striker added that this is a ‘great signing’ for the club, as he posted on Instagram when they announced Van de Beek’s capture.

“Great signing,” said Anichebe in the comments section. “He will flourish under Lampard.”

With Dele Alli also through the doors on deadline day, it’s going to be interesting to see how Lampard sets up this faltering Everton side.

Goodison Park has been toxic this season and it’s no surprise when the club decide that bringing in an ex-Liverpool man was a good idea.

To the perhaps shock of nobody, other than Farhad Moshiri, that Rafa Benitez experiment ended in complete and utter disaster.

Lampard has been brought in to pick up the pieces and someone like Van de Beek now has the stage to showcase his worth.

The Dutch international has been crying out for regular starts at Old Trafford, but it just didn’t arrive.

But now he has the chance to prove doubters wrong and possibly push himself into the starting XI picture in Manchester.

If he ends up performing to such high standards, then those at Everton would want to sign him up on a permanent basis.

Nonetheless, these Van de Beek and Alli signings are one that will provide some intriguing stories during these coming months.
