The Sevilla man could take Newcastle United to another level.

The Magpies will have to reach even higher levels of performance this season, despite their successful 2016/17 campaign in the Championship, as they make the step up to the Premier League.

Rafa Benitez will surely be looking to add more discipline, tenacity and aggression to his midfield options, with the likelihood that his team will have their backs to the wall on a more regular basis this season.

With this in mind, the Spaniard should target a player who possesses all of those qualities – Vicente Iborra, who is attracting interest from various clubs, including West Ham, West Brom and Watford, according to Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo.

The 29-year-old is a highly accomplished player, and can operate in the more disciplined deep-lying midfield role, or further up the pitch, as an orthodox central midfielder.

The Sevilla man is tenacious in the tackle, and possesses fantastic leadership qualities – something that Rafa will surely want to add to his ranks this summer.

Iborra is not all about the somewhat less-fashionable side of the game, however, and impressed in La Liga last term, scoring seven goals from his defensive, deep-lying position.

His potential arrival at St James’ Park could take the Magpies to another level, and he could strike up a fearsome central midfield partnership with Jonjo Shelvey.

The Spaniard does still have three years remaining on his current deal at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, so he will surely not come cheap, but Newcastle should make it their priority to bring him to Tyneside this summer, irrelevant of the price needed to prise him away from Sevilla.
