Rangers have been linked with a move for Jose Abella.
Santos Laguna defender Jose Abella in action
Santos Laguna vice president Jose Riestra has told Reforma that there is no offer on the table from Rangers or any other club for defender Jose Abella.
Rangers swooped to make their first signing of the summer on Wednesday afternoon, with Portuguese international centre back Bruno Alves joining the club on a two-year contract.
However, manager Pedro Caixinha still wants new signings, and the likes of Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack, Carlos Pena, Graham Dorrans, Daniel Candeias and Dalcio could also arrive imminently according to The Scottish Sun.

Another player being linked with a move to Ibrox is Santos Laguna full back Jose Abella, with AS recently claiming that Caixinha wanted a reunion with the defender.
Caixinha managed Santos Laguna between 2013 and 2015, and handed plenty of first-team football to right back Abella, who was a Mexico under-20 international.

Abella came up through the ranks with Santos Laguna and now has more than 100 appearances for the club to his name, with the 23-year-old now allegedly wanted by Caixinha – despite Rangers already having right backs James Tavernier and Lee Hodson already at Ibrox.
Now, Santos Laguna vice president Jose Riestra has spoken to Reforma about the situation, noting that rumours have sent Abella to Rangers, Pumas UNAM, Cruz Azul and Chivas Guadalajara – but no offers have been made.

Riestra added that the rumours only serve to show that Santos are doing a great job with youth development, with Abella seemingly set to stay with Santos Laguna for the foreseeable future.
“I’m surprised with the topic of Abella because there are a lot of rumours that they already put him in Scotland with Rangers, in Pumas, in Cruz Azul, in Chivas…but the only thing they do is made us think of the good work that our player has done, and the work of Santos with the youth setup that makes these players very attractive,” said Riestra. “It’s rumours, there is nothing yet and on June 5 we will be able to talk about more official things. The idea is to give continuity to the squad,” he added.
