Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase for the Monaco star.
Reported Liverpool and Arsenal target Thomas Lemar could be allowed to leave Monaco this summer, according to the club’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev, who told French publication Telefoot that they will be open to offers of around £104 million for the highly rated youngster.
The 22-year-old burst onto the scene with Monaco last season, racking up an impressive 14 goals and 17 assists in 55 appearances.
He hasn’t quite matched those levels this season, however, chalking up just three goals and eight assists in 33 outings. That is not to say that he is still not one of Europe’s hottest properties, though.
Telefoot claim that Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has told them that Lemar could leave in the summer, if his £104 million valuation is met by any potential suitors.
Whilst the fee mentioned seems like an extortionate amount of money, in today’s day and age it could actually be classed as decent value, especially considering the fact that Lemar has so many years left ahead of him.
Both Premier League clubs mentioned are in need of an attacking wide-man, after the high profile exits of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool and Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January.
The Reds seem like the far more attractive prospect at the moment, however, with Jürgen Klopp’s vibrant side thrilling fans up and down the country.
Quite where Lemar will be plying his trade next season remains to be seen, but following Vasilyev’s comments, it is looking increasingly more likely that it will not be Monaco.
