Sunderland desperately need reinforcements when the transfer window opens in January, with the club rock bottom of the Premier League.
There are less than two months to go until the transfer window reopens, and Sunderland are given the chance to rewrite the wrongs of the summer, where their failings in the transfer market appear to have coincided with their abysmal start to the Premier League.
The January window will give manager David Moyes a chance to get the players he thinks can keep the Black Cats in the Premier League, but who do Sunderland fans want to sign in January? HITC Sport’s Michael Ramsay found out.
The one man Sunderland fans wanted to sign in the summer was Yann M’Vila, after spending a sensational season on loan. After that deal failed to come to fruition, there’s only one man they want to sign in January and again it is the Frenchman.

Sunderland are desperately missing his presence at the heart of midfield, with new signing Didier Ndong failing to fill the boots of the 26-year-old.
Scoring goals has been one of the Black Cats’ biggest problems this season, with only Jermain Defoe and Patrick van Aanholt finding the net so far. Names such as Peter Crouch and Shane Long were suggested to help take the pressure off of Defoe’s shoulders and chip in with some goals.

While it’s all just fantasy when naming players you want your team to sign, most Sunderland fans asked the all important question: “Who would want to come?”
Sunderland’s position in the Premier League is not an attractive proposition for any footballer, and the potential drop to the Championship come the summer could be enough to put most players off moving to the Stadium of Light.
