It has a terrible time to be a Sunderland fan, with the club failing to win any of the first nine Premier League games under manager David Moyes, undergoing the worst ever start to a season. Over at Newcastle, they are going through quite the honeymoon period since relegation, with manager Rafael Benitez bringing a feel-good factor back to Tyneside that had been missing.

Are Sunderland fans worried about Newcastle’s upturn in fortunes however? HITC Sport’s Michael Ramsay found out.
In a word, though, the answer is no.
Fans on Wearside seem un-phased with the Magpies’ great form, with one fan insisting they would be top of the league too if they were playing the likes of Burton Albion and Rotherham United.
“I’d rather lose games in the Premier League than win games in the Championship,” one fan said.

The winning mentality has returned at Newcastle, with Benitez losing just three times so far this season, but Sunderland fans think Newcastle would be having a tougher ride if they had to play teams such as Liverpool and Arsenal.
Things are bad for Sunderland right now, but at least they are not letting Newcastle’s success bring them down even further.
