Sunderland are bottom of the Premier League after 11 games.
It has been a rough start to the season if you are a Sunderland fan, with the Black Cats picking up just one win so far in the Premier League, leaving them rock bottom.
Yet again Sunderland are facing a relegation battle and are in need of another great escape – here’s the story of their season so far in pictures:
Sunderland manager David Moyes poses
There was turmoil before the season got underway. Sam Allardyce was selected as the man to replace Roy Hodgson as England manager, leaving his post at the Stadium of Light.
And former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes was brought in as the new Sunderland manager.

The Washington-born goalkeeper put in a sensational performance against Tottenham, but couldn’t stop the North London club taking all three points.
Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe celebrates scoring their second goal
After picking up just a point from their first five games, it looked as though things were about to change when Jermain Defoe put the Black Cats 2-0 up at home to Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke scores their third goal

Having failed to keep a clean sheet all season, it looked as though Sunderland were going to do just that and take a point at the London Stadium.
That was until Winston Reid scored in stoppage time to give West Ham victory, sending Moyes ballistic having been certain that the goal should have been ruled out for offside.
Sunderland fans leave their seats before the end of the match
