Well, Harry Winks looked a totally different player for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The 25-year-old earned a rare Premier League start for Spurs in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool in North London.
It hasn’t been a good season for Winks at Tottenham.
At the time of Conte replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, the England international hadn’t even been making squads every week after being exiled by the Portuguese coach.
But on Sunday, the Italian manager drew a performance out of the Tottenham player that Mauricio Pochettino was able to.
According to WhoScored, he managed four interceptions – the most of anybody on the pitch – and his long balls often caused problems for Liverpool.
Here’s what Andy Townsend made of the surprise performance, telling Optus Sport: “He’s played very well Harry Winks. Made some important intercepetions and released Kane and Son at times.”
Regularly impress
Consistency is massive for Winks.
With a performance like this, he may well keep his place in the starting lineup for Tottenham’s next game, regardless of whether Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is available or not.
But Sunday’s display will be for nothing if he does face West Ham in the Carabao Cup in midweek and reverts to the same frustrating player that the Lilywhites fans have been cursing for a while.
