Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Dane Scarlett is a ‘very, very good’ player in the ranks at Tottenham, as he told talkSPORT (04/09/21 at 6:40 pm)

But the former striker questioned whether Tottenham could keep up their 100% start to the season, as he suggested that they have ‘parked the bus’ for three games.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won all three games of the new campaign and are yet to concede.

Added with that, they are progressing well in the Europa Conference League, which 17-year-old Scarlett took part in last month.

Nonetheless, when Agbonlahor delivered a brutal reaction to Tottenham’s opening three matches, talkSPORT host, Faye Carruthers, wasn’t having any of it.

“Parking the bus for three games,” said Agbonlahor. “They will get found out, Spurs.”

Faye Carruthers: “What? Did you watch that Manchester City game? I was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for that, they did not park the bus.”

“Come on, they did. You are a secret Spurs fan, aren’t you? They have done well. But I still think they are going to fall short.

“I don’t think they are dismissing the Europa Conference League. Harry Kane started the last one – I think the Spurs fans will dismiss it, but it’s a European competition.

“It’s going to come down to squads, isn’t it? Have Spurs got the squad? They have Harry Kane. They have the young lad Scarlett, who is meant to be a very, very good player. But who else have they got?”

Given that a certain Harry Kane is yet to get his engine going in North London then it’s some start for Spurs and it can certainly get better.

They had many problems last season but it seems as though the refresh, in both manager and players, has helped.

But in truth, the real test will begin when they suffer that first defeat or go through a bad period.

It also needs to be remembered that a number of these current Spurs players are trying to prove their worth after declining in recent years.
