Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after James Benge of CBS Sports revealed that Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign Reiss Nelson.
What’s the story?
Well, Patrick Vieira’s side are said to be fronting the queue, although they would prefer a loan deal in order to have a look at Nelson first.
Presumably, that would normally be okay with the Gunners.
However, Benge claims that Nelson’s contract expires in 2022, which would make him a free agent when any season-long loan ends.
Arsenal have offered the 21-year-old a new contract, but nothing has been agreed as of yet.
As you can see below, some Arsenal fans are becoming frustrated with the club’s treatment of the talented Hale End graduate, who has been likened to Neymar.
Arsenal are messing Reiss Nelson around
Make no mistake about it, Nelson has bundles of ability.
For a player of his quality, 70 minutes of Premier League football across the entirety of last season simply isn’t good enough.
Now, Mikel Arteta must let him spread his wings elsewhere, or tie him down to a new contract with assurances of playing time written into it.
Whatever happens, Crystal Palace could be the beneficiaries of huge mismanagement from the Gunners.
A frontline of Nelson alongside Wilfried Zaha, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise would be a joy to watch.
