Ruben Amorim has warned Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur about the threat of Sporting Lisbon duo Francisco Trincao and Marcus Edwards, as quoted in Football.London.

Tottenham will take on Sporting Lisbon away from home in Portugal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Spurs will fancy their chances of picking up all three points from the match in Lisbon this evening.

After all, Tottenham are doing well in the Premier League at the moment and got the better of Marseille in their opening UEFA Champions League match last week.

But Sporting cannot be taken lightly, and their head coach Amorim has named Edwards and Trincao as two players who could really hurt Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur warned about Francisco Trincao and Marcus Edwards

Amorim said: “We need to do what we know well. We have players who are very talented like Edwards and Trincao. We know Spurs won’t give us much space but we need to do what we know we do well.”

Staying alert

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should be careful about the threat posed by Sporting Lisbon duo Francisco Trincao and Marcus Edwards.

Edwards is a former Tottenham player who failed to make a huge impact at Spurs.

The 23-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has scored two goals and provided two assists in five league starts for Sporting so far this season.

Edwards, who is playing as a centre-forward this season, has also scored one goal and provided one assist in one UEFA Champions League match so far this campaign.

As for Trincao, the 22-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers in England from Barcelona and will be fully aware of Tottenham’s strengths and weaknesses.
