Tottenham Hotspur central defender Eric Dier has raved about Marcus Edwards ahead of the UEFA Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon, as quoted in Football.London.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham will take on Sporting away from home in Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Dier, who now plays as a central defender having earlier operated as a midfielder, could start for Tottenham.
If the Englishman plays, then he is likely to come up against a former Tottenham player in Marcus Edwards.
Edwards, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, was on the books of Tottenham from 2006 until 2019.

The former England Under-20 international was rated highly by then Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino, but after loan spells at Norwich City and Excelsior, the North London club decided to offload him in 2019.
Pochettino was the Tottenham head coach at the time.
After scoring 20 goals in 96 games for Vitória SC, Edwards made the move to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals and provided two assists in five league starts for Sporting so far this season.
Edwards, who is playing as a centre-forward this season, has also scored one goal and provided one assist in one UEFA Champions League match so far this campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier on Marcus Edwards
Dier said about Edwards on Football.London: “Very talented player. He’s done extremely well since he arrived and he’s someone we’ll have to watch out for.
“Leaving the situation at Tottenham and coming to a new country, I think he can be very proud of himself.
“He’s very talented and strong and yes it would be great if he could make it to the national team. If he keeps evolving like that I’m sure he could make it to the national team.”
