Liverpool’s pursuit of Lille pair Victor Osimhen and Boubakary Soumare have been given the backing of ex-Anfield star Momo Sissoko, while speaking to TuttoJuve.

Les Dogues are used to cashing in on their star players. And a pair of talented youngsters who moved to the Stade Pierre Mauroy on bargain deals from PSG and Charleroi respectively could be on the verge of following in the footsteps of Eden Hazard, Nicolas Pepe, Gervinho and co.

Sport claims that Liverpool have held talks with Soumare, an all-action central midfielder who makes dispossessing opposition forwards look like an art form.

The France U21 international has seen his price-tag drop to around £23 million during a period of unprecedented financial uncertainty (Le 10 Sport).

The Reds also entered negations over a deal for Osimhen too (Le10 Sport). An 18-goal powerhouse who has been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, the Nigeria international would certainly bring something different to Jurgen Klopp’s star-studded attack.

With his fearsome aerial ability, this old-school number nine is pretty much the antithesis of the cerebral Bobby Firmino.

And Sissoko, the France-born enforcer who spent three years at Anfield between 2008 and 2011, certainly feels Soumare and Osimhen are ready to make the step up.

“I really like Victor Osimhen of Lille; for me that boy is very strong. He is a striker that we will continue to talk about in the next few years,” Sissoko says.

“While in midfield, I could recommend his teammate Boubakary Soumare.”

Osimhen is expected to command a fee of around £70 million after just one season in Lille colours. This means that, if Liverpool want to sign both players, they will have to part with somewhere in the region of £100 million.
