According to journalist Jorge Nicola on Youtube, Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, and a move has already been made.

What’s the story?

Well, Nicola revealed that Liverpool have already lodged an enquiry about the €45m (£38m) forward’s availability.

The Reds are also said to have made an approach, although in truth, that was a bit vague from Nicola, as an enquiry could also be deemed an approach.

Nevertheless, if Liverpool can pull this deal off, it would be a tremendous signing and also an excellent long-term replacement for Sadio Mane.

Rodrygo agreed his move to Real Madrid aged just 17, and looked set to follow in the footsteps of Neymar having burst onto the scene at Santos.

Now aged 20, the Brazilian has had a slow start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu with 11 goals in 79 appearances.

However, there’s no denying he has the potential to develop into a future Ballon d’Or winner.

Liverpool could have the next Cristiano Ronaldo in Rodrygo

After his arrival at Real Madrid was confirmed, many quickly compared Rodrygo to Cristiano Ronaldo.

It was perhaps an unfair comparison, given that Ronaldo had only just left Real Madrid and Rodrygo would’ve felt immense pressure to replace him.

In fact, the South American wonderkid spoke to the Independent about those comparisons, saying: “I don’t want to weigh myself down with the pressure of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Tite – manager of Brazil – also showered the prodigy in praise, highlighting his usefulness on the flanks.

AS quote Tite as saying: “In Santos he played on both wings, in Real Madrid he has joined on the right and has been developing very well, mainly in one-on-one, where he is very strong.”

Nevertheless, he should view it as a compliment to be compared to the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.

If Jürgen Klopp can get his hands on Rodrygo, we believe the winger would develop into one of Europe’s greatest under the German’s coaching skills.
