Gabby Agbonlahor slammed Jamie Carragher’s ‘very strange’ commentary during Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
The former Villa striker posted on Twitter that it sounded like Carragher wanted ‘Brighton to win’, which he found pretty odd from the former Liverpool defender.
It’s back-to-back Premier League wins for Villa and a 100% start for Unai Emery in the league after he replaced Carragher’s former Liverpool teammate, Steven Gerrard, in the dugout – This is what Agbonlahor posted about the Sky Sports man’s commentary today and he also gave a ‘special mention’ to Emi Buendia and John McGinn for their performances.
It was a Danny Ings double that helped Villa secure the points, including the away side resorting to ugly yet much-worked tactics of slowing the game down towards the end of the game.
At one point, there was a penalty cry from Brighton and Carragher was adamant that the home team should have been awarded a spot-kick when Lucas Digne kicked the back leg of Solly March whilst trying to clear the ball.
In the end, Villa came from behind to win a Premier League game for the first time since May 2021.

THE EMERY TRAIN IS AT FULL SPEED
Last week, Villa secured their first win over Manchester United in the Premier League at Villa Park since 1995 and now Emery has helped the Midlands side to their first three points on the road this term.
The Emery train is well and truly underway, in full flow and pushing up the Premier League table.
Villa did suffer an EFL Cup exit at the hands of Man United in midweek, but the 51-year-old made a number of changes for that game and his so-called back-up players still managed to take the lead twice at Old Trafford.
Either way, they head towards the break, ahead for the 2022 World Cup, in much higher spirits.
