Andros Townsend told talkSPORT (10/11/20 at 7:20 am) that Leeds have a ‘very special way of playing’ and it was ‘fascinating’ playing them in the flesh compared to watching them on TV.
The Crystal Palace winger started his side’s 4-1 win against Leeds over the weekend and Townsend was impressed with what he saw.
There was a controversial moment during the game when Patrick Bamford’s equalising goal was judged to be offside by VAR and Palace punished them thereafter.
Townsend, who would have been watching Leeds rip it up since their promotion, shared what it was like playing against them.
“It was fascinating,” said Palace’s £13m signing. “Everyone has been fascinated with Leeds this season and Marcelo Bielsa. For that reason, we did a lot of analysis. We also had the luxury of watching Leicester play them the week before, who play very similar to us.
“Hats off to Roy Hodgson and the coaching staff for the way they set us up. They set us up perfectly to counter what Leeds bring to the table and on the day we got it spot on and ran out deserved winners.
“We do a lot of analysis and with Leeds being a newly-promote team, they bring a bit of the unknown. Of course, when you watch them on TV, you don’t get the full extent of the way they play. It’s a very special way of playing.
“It’s incredible that they have come up to the Premier League and with no fear. Taken the game to the likes of Liverpool as well. It was fascinating to see it live in the flesh and to experience a Leeds experience.”

Whilst everyone is lauding Leeds style and how unique it is either watching them play or playing against them. They are in a run of form which they need to get out of.
The biggest problem the Whites will face this season is the fact that they won’t stop conceding goals because of how aggressive, gung-ho and in your face they are.
But they need results to go their way now and again because if they get into a bad run of form which they cannot get out of then it might just spell trouble.
