Speculation surrounding the future of Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been doing rounds for almost a week now.

Last Saturday, Spurs drew 3-3 at Southampton, after which the Lilywhites boss delivered a brutally honest post-match press conference.

Conte, who is reportedly still out of the country, remains the Tottenham manager for now.

However, it looks as though Spurs are now beginning to look at other candidates.

This is according to Sky Sports, who delivered the “very significant breaking news” live on air on Friday afternoon.

‘Considering a number of managers’

David Garrido discussed the Tottenham managerial situation, saying Spurs have started looking at Julian Nagelsmann.

Multiple reports say Bayern Munich have sacked the 35-year-old.

However, the Bundesliga club hasn’t officially confirmed this just yet.

Another twist comes in the shape of Tottenham reportedly being willing to keep Conte on until the end of the season.

“Right, some very significant breaking news for you,” Garrido began, as shared on Sky Sports News’ Twitter feed.

“Tottenham are assessing managerial options if Antonio Conte leaves the role as head coach.

“It’s thought they’re considering a number of managers and they’re keeping an eye on Julian Nagelsmann’s situation.

“Remember that we’re still expecting a formal announcement on Nagelsmann’s sacking as Bayern head coach.

“That’s expected soon, with Thomas Tuchel, the ex-Chelsea head coach, replacing him.

“At this early stage it’s unclear whether Nagelsmann wants to take on another job immediately or assess all his options in the summer.

“Interestingly, Nagelsmann is someone Tottenham have looked at twice before.

“Tuchel is another man Tottenham have sounded out, but they quickly became aware that he really wanted to take on the Bayern job.

“One source has told Sky Sports News that Conte will leave his role.

“But while uncertainty remains on a potential replacement, staying at Tottenham until the end of the season when his contract’s up, that hasn’t completely been ruled out.”

The saga continues

By the looks of it, we could potentially see a domino effect take place.

Tottenham have been linked with Tuchel, but he seems eager to take the Bayern reins.

Before that happens, the Bavarians must confirm the sacking of Nagelsmann.

Then, we could potentially see the 35-year-old take the Spurs reins.

That’s if all goes well, but obviously there could well be more twists in the tale.
