One thing is for sure, Pep Guardiola isn’t the most popular of people at Tottenham and won’t be for a very long time.
Not only did he make it public that he wanted to sign Kane from Spurs this summer, but Manchester City was seemingly trying to get him cheaper than what Daniel Levy valued him at.
At the end of all the drama surrounding Kane, Spurs and Man City, the Englishman ended up staying put in North London, as he announced on Twitter.
Guardiola has since come out and claimed that ‘we tried to open Levy to negotiate’, but the Man City boss expressed his frustration by adding ‘we could not do it’ and labelled Tottenham’s chairman as ‘the big master of negotiating’, as quoted by the Mirror.
Well, Spurs fans have hit back at Guardiola’s comments and reminded him that you need to put the right amount of money on the table for such quality players.
In truth, those from the Etihad set the bar even higher when they paid £100 million for Jack Grealish’s talents.
Whilst the expert ball-carrier is a top-quality footballer, he doesn’t have the record, experience and proven performances on the big stage like his England captain.
Therefore, Levy and Spurs had every right to demand such a high fee for their player given what value he is to them and the club.
But with Man City winning back-to-back games recently, including netting ten in their last two home games, it begs the question as to what striker they actually need.
Either way, Spurs have loved how Levy handled this Kane situation because there’s no doubt that he came on top.
