Newcastle United made Alexander Isak their record signing this summer, but now he may be set for a spell on the sidelines at St James’ Park.

Indeed, the Swedish national team have now put out a statement confirming that the ‘incredible’ Newcastle United striker has suffered an injury and will be leaving the Sweden camp as he will be unavailable for their upcoming fixtures.

Isak spoke about his injury, stating that he was very sad to have to leave his international teammates.

“It feels very sad to have to leave the team. I had longed to play in the blue and yellow shirt again. I wish the boys the best of luck on Saturday and Tuesday,” Isak said.

The severity of this injury hasn’t been disclosed as of yet, but it’s fair to say that Newcastle will be hoping that this isn’t too serious.

With Callum Wilson already sidelined, an injury to Isak is the last thing the Magpies need right now, especially after their slow start to the season.

Indeed, Newcastle have won just one game so far this term, and with a tough game against Fulham on the horizon, the Tyneside outfit need to be at full strength if they’re going to get that second win on the board against the Cottagers in just over a week’s time.

Newcastle supporters will be praying that Isak will be back fit and firing as soon as possible, because with the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Wilson struggling for fitness at the moment, United’s attack is looking rather blunt.

Isak has been fantastic since making the move to St James’ Park, and we can only hope that this injury doesn’t hamper his development too much.
