Gabriel honestly stated on Instagram that he is ‘very sad’ about Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday and made it clear that the team will ‘work hard to improve’.
From the highs of beating Manchester United at Old Trafford, Arsenal suffered their low of the season as they were comprehensively beaten by Villa.
The problem with Arsenal’s performance was that they were woefully under-par all over the pitch, and in truth, it cannot get any worse.
Nonetheless, Gabriel posted this message to Arsenal supporters last night, as he insisted that he will not allow the recent result to ‘affect’ them.
Whilst Gabriel, who signed for Arsenal for £23 million this summer [BBC Sport], will be disappointed with how he performed over the weekend, he has been a revelation since putting on that Arsenal shirt.
Both him and Thomas Partey are exactly what those in North London have been crying out for, but it’s a case of the rest of the players matching their levels.
It doesn’t help Arsenal’s cause that they are now heading towards an international break because the players would have preferred to go back out on the pitch and put things right.
But they will have to dwell that bit longer on Sunday’s performance and how they react to that will be very key in how they perform going forward.
