Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s continuing interest in Pedro Porro.
The Spanish wing-back is reportedly Tottenham’s top target in this January transfer window as they look to improve their situation at right wing-back.
According to Jacobs, Spurs have had initial talks over a deal for Porro, and they’re now trying to figure out whether or not he will be available for less than the £40m release clause Sporting are currently demanding for the player.
However, Jacobs did heed a warning for Spurs, stating that there is a very real possibility that Chelsea could come in and hijack this deal, stating that the Blues may be more bullish when it comes to coughing up the cash needed to sign this player.

Chelsea could pinch Porro
Jacobs shared what he knows about this situation.
“At the moment intermediaries are heavily involved in this one. Initial talks have taken place. Tottenham are trying to understand if this public stance of release clause only is genuine or not, and if it is, they will need to determine if they want to trigger the clause,” Jacobs said.
“The other thing to watch, we’ll hear this a lot, and it’s to be taken with a pinch of salt. A hijack from Chelsea is very possible. Where Tottenham are perhaps 50/50 on whether it’s worth paying the release clause, Chelsea may be a bit more bullish because they’re looking for big movement.”
Typical Chelsea
It’s not surprising at all to hear that Chelsea are in for Porro and that they could hijack this deal.
At this point, it genuinely looks as though the Blues aren’t doing any of their own scouting and that they’re just rivalling the Premier League’s other top clubs for their players.
They went after Joao Felix after Manchester United were linked, they went after Mykhaylo Mudryk after Arsenal were linked and now they want Porro amid discussions with Spurs.
This would be a very typical move for Chelsea to make, and it wouldn’t surprise us at all if they did indeed take Porro from under Spurs’ noses.
