Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are progressing well in their quest to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

Sheth has told GiveMeSport that Arsenal are really pushing to get a deal done for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber in the summer transfer window.

Talks between the two clubs have bean very positive, with Timber, who can operate as a central defender or as a right-back, himself determined to make the move to Arsenal, according to the reporter.

De Telegraaf had earlier claimed that Timber has an agreement in place with Arsenal and will earn £130,000 per week as salary at the Gunners if he makes the move.

Sheth said: “You’ll remember last summer Manchester United tried to sign Jurrien Timber but couldn’t get that one over the line.

“It looks like that this one could end in a positive resolution with regard to Arsenal because they are pushing for him.

“Talks have been ongoing, talks have been very positive, as far as I’m aware.

“And all the indications are that Jurrien Timber quite significantly wants to make the move to Arsenal as well.”

Encouraging Jurrien Timber update for Arsenal fans

In our opinion, that Arsenal’s talks over Jurrien Timber are progressing well is very encouraging for the Emirates Stadium faithful.

With the 22-year-old Netherlands international defender himself keen on a move to the Gunners, Arsenal’s task of signing him this summer has become slightly easier.

Ajax do tend to sell their best players, and now it is just a matter of Arsenal and the Dutch club coming to an agreement over a transfer fee.

We believe that Arsenal will get this particular transfer deal done.
