Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was announced that Jarrad Branthwaite had signed a new three-and-a-half year contract.
What’s the story?
Well, this is brilliant news for Everton.
Branthwaite is an excellent prospect, who has already made his Premier League debut for the Toffees.
In total, the 19-year-old has four Premier League appearances to his name.
Interestingly, Branthwaite’s new contract contains an option for Everton to extend his deal by an extra season.
The teenage arrived from Carlisle United in January 2020, and has made tremendous strides at Goodison Park in a short space of time.
Sadly, Branthwaite suffered injuries over the course of pre-season, meaning he was unable to show his best to Rafa Benitez.
However, the Spaniard, as well as Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright, clearly have a lot of faith in the centre-back, as he’s been offered a new contract regardless.

It’s vital that Everton find a productive loan move for Branthwaite, as he has potential to become a star.
It was even said that Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in signing the Englishman, according to the Daily Mail.
Branthwaite is a huge prospect, and his presence should mean Everton don’t need to buy a replacement for Yerry Mina, if Calciomercato‘s report is true.
The Italian news outlet claimed that Mina’s agent has offered him to AC Milan as he tries to engineer a move away from Merseyside for his client.
It’s been a while since Everton have brought through a gem to follow in Wayne Rooney’s footsteps, but Branthwaite might just be that man.
