Marcelo Bielsa is something of a god-like figure to Leeds United fans.

The Argentine was the one who masterminded the Whites’ Premier League return after a 16-year absence from the big time last season and because of it, the Elland Road faithful will back their head coach to the hills.

But there is one decision that some Leeds fans aren’t too happy about.

Bielsa left Pablo Hernandez out of his squad for Saturday’s 4-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace.

This omission came five days after the Spaniard’s unhappy reaction to being substituted in the mauling by Leicester City earlier in the week.

And the Leeds boss, speaking to a post-match press conference yesterday, confirmed that Hernandez was fit and available for selection, meaning his omission was likely punishment for how he reacted against the Foxes last week.

With Rodrigo absent, the West Yorkshire side were crying out for a bit of magic off the bench at Selhurst Park and Tyler Roberts was unable to provide it.

And some Leeds fans are criticising Bielsa for refusing to include Hernandez in the trip to London, even when he was fit.

You can understand their frustration, given that this was a second-straight Premier League defeat.

Then again, Bielsa is the boss and if he decides that Hernandez was in need of a dressing down in this fashion, irrespective of how it affects the team, then the decision has to be respected.
