Tottenham Hotspur’s apparent interest in Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth is a source of pride for the player’s father, speaking to Nettavisen.
With funds tight in north London, Spurs have little choice but to think outside the box as they look to land the back-up striker they have been crying out for since Harry Kane burst on to the scene in the early days of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign.
Habib Diallo, Carlos Vinicius, Arkadiusz Milik and Danny Ings have all been linked during the past few days.
But, with the ever-demanding Jose Mourinho making it clear signing a striker is a must before October’s transfer deadline, could Spurs turn to a £9 million Premier League misfit?
If Tottenham were hoping keep their interest quiet, it’s fair to say Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has let the cat out of the bag.
Speaking to Fanatik after Sorloth’s stunning loan spell in Turkey, Agaoglu claimed Tottenham have held talks with a man also on RB Leipzig’s radar.
Mourinho himself was reluctant to discuss the Norway international after Sunday’s limp 1-0 home defeat to Everton but, in contrast, the 24-year-old’s father could hardly contain himself when asked about a potential move to the 2019 Champions League finalists.
“It is very nice that there are several big names who are interested in Alexander. It is a sign that he has done well and has created a career that will hopefully take another new step,” says Goran Sorloth.

“He was in the Premier League and at a stage in his life where he jumped from the Super League in Denmark to the Premier League (in January 2018). It is clear that the leap is large.
“But he has learned and taken (it) step by step, and is becoming more and more robust.”
Sorloth was barely given a chance at Palace, failing to score in 16 fleeting Premier League appearances under Roy Hodgson, but showcased his class during a remarkable season on loan at Trabzonspor.
The burly number nine hit the target 33 times in 2019/20, winning the Super Lig’s Golden Boot award and firing Trabzonspor to the Turkish Cup.
