Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have been linked with Jonathan Tah, and Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg’s tweet on the Bayer Leverkusen central defender this morning will certainly encourage them.

90min reported in February 2023 that Liverpool and Newcastle want to sign Tah in the summer transfer window.

The Reds and the Magpies reportedly held talks with intermediaries about his situation and asked about his availability in the January transfer window.

Liverpool and Newcastle reportedly remain keen on the 27-year-old Germany international defender.

Plettenberg has now reported on Twitter that the defender wants to leave Bayer at the end of the season, and that it is very likely that he will move on.

Encouraging for the Reds and the Magpies

In our view, that Jonathan Tah is reportedly looking to move on from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season is very encouraging for Liverpool and Newcastle United.

It means that it will be easier for Liverpool and Newcastle to negotiate a deal with Bayer.

Now, of course, the German club will want Tah’s release clause to be triggered.

However, if Tah is keen on leaving, then it is likely that Bayer will do a deal for less than his release cause.

After all, the Bundesliga outfit will surely not want to keep a player who does not want to stay.
