Ian Wright thinks that Everton midfielder Allan was absolutely shattered late on against Leeds United, as per his comments live on Premier League Productions’ MatchDay Extra.

Leeds beat Everton 1-0 at the weekend, with Raphinha scoring the goal to separate the two sides.

The Brazilian picked the ball up in acres of space and let fly from range with a shot that beat Jordan Pickford.

And Wright thinks that Allan struggled to get back in time to put pressure on Raphina due to the relentless nature of Leeds’ style.

“They wore Everton down, to the point where Raphinha, when he did get that ball, he picked it up on oceans of space because Allan, who was the holding midfielder, could not even get back in,” Wright said.

“Everton were very leggy, because Leeds were just at them. They have a fitness which is just incredible.”

Leeds did indeed give Everton the run around on occasions at the weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side had Everton hanging on at times, and although they defended desperately, they just couldn’t keep Leeds out for 90 minutes.

The defeat means that Everton have now lost four of their last five outings, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side now slipping down to seventh place in the Premier League table, after making a brilliant start to the campaign.

Everton are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
