According to Football London, Tottenham Hotspur are back in for Weston McKennie with Fabio Paratici reportedly making contact with the American midfielder’s representatives.

The midfielder is a player that Paratici knows well. Having signed him for Juventus a couple of years ago.

Paratici has, of course, joined Tottenham since then, but it seems as though his admiration for the 23-year-old remains.

It’s not all that surprising to hear that Spurs are in for McKennie. After all, Paratici has had plenty of good things to say about the Juventus star in the past.

What’s Paratici said about McKennie?

The Italian gave McKennie a glowing review during his time in Turin.

“McKennie is a very exuberant and very intelligent boy, he has been in Europe for some years, so he is used to a certain type of football and environment. We count on him a lot, we have high expectations on of him because he is a boy who is already at a good level, but he has great room for improvement because he comes from another football, from another culture and we in Italy are good at this. A foreign player who comes to Italy has many margins for improvement, primarily in team tactics,in individual tactics, like living football every day, the precision, the application, the professionalism that we have here in all the things we do, is superior to that of other countries,” Paratici said.

Perfect for Conte

An intelligent player who has a lot of room to improve sounds like exactly the type of player Tottenham should be signing for Conte.

Sadly, it seems unlikely that Spurs will be able to pull such a deal off this month – Massimo Allegri has reportedly blocked the move, but that won’t stop the north London club from trying.

Even if Spurs don’t manage to sign McKennie this month, don’t be surprised if these rumours persist as long as Paratici is at the club, because the Sporting Director is seemingly a huge fan of this player.
