Michael Owen has lauded the qualities of Arsenal’s back-up option, Leandro Trossard.
With Bukayo Saka out injured, Leandro Trossard started Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday, with Eddie Nketiah down the middle and Gabriel Jesus out on the right.
Former England striker Michael Owen labelled Leandro Trossard as a ‘very intelligent player’ following his January capture from Brighton & Hove Albion, as he told Premier League Productions (08/10/23 at 4:15 pm).
Many question the quality of depth Arsenal have behind Bukayo Saka out on the right side, but no-one can question the depth on the left.
Someone like Leandro Trossard can’t start on a regular basis because of Gabriel Martinelli, but it could be argued that he would be a starter for many other top teams.
Either way, the Belgium international has a big fan in Michael Owen, as he shared his thoughts on the player.

Leandro Trossard praise
“This guy was exceptional at Brighton and every time he has been told to fill, he has been very good for Arsenal,” said Owen.
“He has played in a couple of different positions. He is quite versatile. Almost played as a false nine a little bit. He can play wide and as a number ten.
“He’s a very intelligent player that assists and scores.”

Leandro Trossard is an underrated gem
If Arsenal are to win the Premier League title, then it’s not just the star names who need to stay fit and perform.
The so-called back-up options, such as Trossard, are equally as important, as the 28-year-old could play that old Sylvain Wiltord-like role for Mikel Arteta.
There’s no doubt it will come to that as Arsenal send out their biggest statement yet by beating Manchester City yesterday.
