Craig Hope of the Daily Mail has been sharing what he’s heard about plans for a new training ground at Newcastle.
What’s the story?
Well, the Daily Mail’s North-East football correspondent has provided an update on Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s plans to improve on Little Benton.
Hope explains how the project is still at “research stage” for the Magpies, but plans have been drawn for a site at Parklands – near the racecourse.
The reliable journalist adds that Ryder Architecture are involved in the plans, and initial drawings of the proposed site are said to be very impressive.

As you can see, Hope mentions that sources have told him other locations are also being explored, so it is not a definitive fact that Newcastle will move from Little Benton to Parklands.
It comes after Newcastle received planning permission from North Tyneside Council to make improvements on Little Benton in the meantime.
Those improvements include plans to add ‘single storey side and rear extensions to the east side of the training complex’ as well as as a ‘rear extension’ to the existing dining room at the training ground.
Newcastle training ground set to take years
For those of you getting excited about the prospect of a new training ground, you may have to be patient.
Back in February, Ghodoussi told The Athletic that it could take three years – “maybe a little bit more” – until the Magpies fully complete a move away from Little Benton.
That is somewhat reassuring in regards to the fact Newcastle plan to do this properly, and are focused on ensuring their new training facility is state-of-the-art stuff.
In the meantime, it is also good to see Staveley and Ghodoussi make plans to improve Little Benton, as they aim to keep everyone happy in the time between now and moving to a new site.
