‘Very hardworking’: Everton man hails £35m teammate Sam Allardyce called petulant

Allan has been speaking to the Premier League about life at Everton, and he found time to shower the “hardworking” Richarlison in praise.

What’s the story?

Well, Allan appears to be a big fan of his £35m Everton teammate and fellow Brazilian.

As quoted by Globo Esporte, the 31-year-old said: “I love this kid! I call him a boy because I’m a little older than him. He’s very hardworking and I try to pass on my experience as I get older to help and guide him. I’m sure he will have a great career here at Everton and for the Brazilian national team.”

It’s good to see Allan praising Richarlison and sticking by his pal, who has endured a tough season so far.

The 24-year-old has suffered knee and calf injuries, potentially caused by his lack of rest over the summer as he won gold at the Olympics with Brazil.

Richarlison has only scored five goals in 16 games as a result, which is poor for a player of his quality, but he is clearly a popular figure at Goodison Park.

Richarlison is not petulant at Everton

Back in December, Richarlison was branded as a petulant player by Sam Allardyce after he reacted badly to being substituted by Rafa Benitez.

The incident happened during Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over the Toffees, and led to question marks surrounding the Brazilian’s attitude.

Allardyce told talkSPORT: “When you see Richarlison doing what he is doing, it’s not the best thing you want as a manager, what he has done, shaking his head. You look at that situation and the last thing Rafa needs at the moment is individuals showing petulance.”

Now, however, Allan has dispelled the notion that Richarlison is a selfish, childish player by stating that his teammate is a “very hardworking” guy.

After all, that was during a terrible run of form under Benitez, and it was easy to become annoyed at the Spaniard as a result.

You can see how much effort the ex-Watford man puts in on the pitch, and once he starts scoring regularly again, we feel fewer people will question him.
