Don Hutchison says it’s a ‘no-brainer’ for Tottenham Hotspur to sign Dejan Kulusevski next summer, after his ‘sensational’ performance on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

The former midfielder added that Kulusevski, who is on-loan from Italian giants Juventus, is a player that is ‘very hard’ to mark, as he told Premier League Productions (08/08/22 at 11:20 am).

Over the weekend, he scored and assisted as Spurs came from behind to thrash Southampton 4-1 in front of a packed-out crowd at Tottenham’s stadium.

Given Fabio Paratici’s links in Italy, and Antonio Conte’s, it was obvious that they were going to knock on the door of Serie A and take some of their players.

Whilst someone like Kulusevski wasn’t thriving in Juventus colours, Conte and Paratici saw something that made them sit up and take him on board back in January, and now, they are opening the champagne bottle.

The Sweden international is someone that has left a big impression on Hutchison, as he added that for £29 million, it would be a very good deal.

“What a player,” said Hutchison. “£29 million it could be, I think that’s the clause in the contract.

“I had him as Man of the Match against Southampton. He was sensational. Brilliant. Aggressive. He has confidence and goes past people.

“What I like about him most is when he tries to go past people, and it doesn’t come off, then he demands the ball again.

“He’s at the top of his game. He’s so good. His delivery is so good that you can try to send him down to the right-hand side, but he can then burn you for pace. He is a player you find very hard to mark.

“Then he has a delivery, an eye for a pass and is always looking forward. Physically, he was meant for the Premier League. £29 million at the end of this season seems like a no-brainer.”

CONTE WORKING HIS MAGIC

These last seven months is proof of why Conte is one of the best managers in the business because the work he has done in north London has been out of this world.

Tottenham wouldn’t be in this current situation of being back in the Champions League if it wasn’t for their all-action manager on the touchlines.

The new signings have been outstanding and the summer purchases have been given a big thumbs up by the fans, but it’s perhaps what he has done with current players that is more impressive.

Eric Dier, Matt Doherty, Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies, to name a few, are making brilliant improvements and are looking worthy of playing under the trophy-laden coach.
