Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Folarin Balogun and the impact he’s having at Reims this season.

The young Arsenal loanee has been ripping it up in Ligue 1 so far this season. He has five goals in eight league games so far this season, and as you can imagine, the Gunners are more than happy with how the 21-year-old is getting on over in France.

In fact, according to Romano, Arsenal are now convinced that Balogun could be a star of the future.

Balogun is impressing

Romano shared just how happy Arsenal are with the young striker.

“Many English clubs in the Championship and the Premier League were asking about this possibility with Balogun and I think it was a great move for him. He’s scoring goals, he scored for the England U21s as well. Arsenal are very happy and it is a straight loan, so he will be back to Arsenal at the end of the season and Arsenal are convinced that he could be one for the future,” Romano said.

Watch out Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah may have only just signed his new Arsenal contract, but next season his place as the Gunners’ second-choice striker could be under threat.

Balogun is flying over in France, and it surely won’t be long before the attacker is working his way up the first-team ranks at the Emirates.

Of course, overthrowing Gabriel Jesus is something of an impossible task at the moment, but there’s every reason to believe that Balogun could overtake Nketiah in the Gunners’ pecking order and become Jesus’ first reserve.

Balogun is certainly a player to keep an eye on this season and if he keeps up this form, it may not be long before he gets some sort of international recognition.
