Arsenal are in talks with Brentford over the transfer of David Raya this summer, according to 90min.

It has been reported that Arsenal are looking at Raya as a replacement for Emiliano Martínez, who is set to join Aston Villa for £20 million.

Raya’s agent, Jaume Monell, recently told Sport that the goalkeeper wants to join Arsenal and is ready to put in a transfer request, and, according to 90min, that stance has convinced Brentford to listen to what the Gunners have to offer for the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Arsenal are confident that they will be able to sign Raya given his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, according to the report.

Good signing for Arsenal?

If Martinez leaves for Villa this summer, then Arsenal will need a strong and capable replacement.

Raya – described as “a very good goalkeeper” by Brentford head coach Thomas Frank on the club’s official website in July 2019 – was superb for the Bees last season and played a key role in the London club reaching the Championship playoff final.

The 24-year-old Spaniard is at the right age to take the next step in his career and move to a big Premier League club such as Arsenal.
