‘Very good player’: Manager thrilled with Tottenham loanee; he’s a ‘great signing’

Jason Tindall is confident that Tottenham Hotspur loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers will be a brilliant addition to his Bournemouth squad, telling the Daily Echo that he has a ‘very, very good player’ in his ranks.

It took a while but, on the final day of the longest transfer window in history, the Cherries finally found a central defender capable of filling a Nathan Ake-shaped hole in their back line.

Carter-Vickers may not be a £40 million-rated Dutch international with the potential to play for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City but, at Championship level, he is one of the most promising defenders around.

‘CCV’ made a huge impression at Luton Town last season, helping the Hatters avoid relegation back to League One.

And he has now been reunited with former Hatters coach Graeme Jones at Bournemouth after completing a year-long loan move to the South Coast.

“He’s someone that Graeme (Jones) spoke very, very highly of from his time at Luton and, seeing him ourselves, he’s a very, very good player,” said Tindall, who has led Bournemouth to three wins in five games since replacing Eddie Howe in the hot seat.

“A very good defender and he will certainly add to the group. I’m really happy.

“I felt we needed to add another body to give us some strength in depth and Cameron is a great signing for us.”

The USA international is still, technically speaking at least, a Tottenham player.

But with Joe Rodon arriving from Swansea City last week, joining Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and the hugely promising Japhet Tanganga in north London, it is difficult to imagine Carter-Vickers ever forcing his way into Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans.
