The transfer window may have only just closed, but that doesn’t mean that the recruitment process is over at Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, Fabio Paratici and his scouting team work all year long on identifying targets, and this week it was reported that they’ve been looking at Stoke City defender Harry Souttar.

Souttar is an interesting player for Spurs to be looking at. He’s a towering defender standing at 6 ft 7 and while he isn’t proven at Premier League level, he’s been one of the Championship’s best for the last 12 months.

Stoke City supporters rate him very highly, stating that they really don’t want him to leave for Tottenham, and one Spurs legend is seemingly also a big fan

Indeed, upon learning of Spurs’ interest in the Australian, Graham Roberts took to Twitter to give his view on the defender.

Roberts clearly rates Souttar claiming that he’s a really good player, and to be honest, it’s hard to disagree with his view.

Souttar has been amongst the best centre-backs in the Championship for some time now, and as we know, top talents can come out of the second division these days.

Just look at the England squad, so many of the Three Lions’ key men came from the Championship. The likes of Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips all cut their teeth in the second-tier before making it in the Premier League.

Souttar could follow suit by becoming a star for Tottenham if the London club decide to firm up their interest in the £2m Stoke ace.
