Thomas Tuchel has spoken to the media about Chelsea maestro Billy Gilmour’s qualities, amid interest from West Ham.

According to the Mirror, David Moyes is keen to sign the Scottish playmaker on loan from the Blues before Monday’s deadline.

The report says that the Hammers boss wants to see if the 19-year-old is part of Tuchel’s plans before making a move.

In that respect, the German’s comments should be of interest to Moyes.

Goal quote Tuchel as saying: “For Billy I have a good impression. He is a very strategic guy. A very high level of game understanding. Very good in the first contact. Very clever in positioning. We’ll see if he has the physical level, if he can compete in the centre of the field in the most physical league in the world.

“We will see that, but he is super quick, super fast with his feet. Super fast with his decision making and very, very good in positioning.”

It seems as if the former Borussia Dortmund boss wants to see if the Scotland Under-21 international can handle himself physically first.

In our view, we’re not sure Tuchel will be able to monitor that, as well as make a decision on Gilmour’s immediate future, before Monday’s deadline.

In that respect, these comments may not leave Moyes feeling too satisfied about his chances of landing the Chelsea No.23.

We feel Tuchel should lend Gilmour to the Irons.

Chelsea have too many quality midfielders right now, such as N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Jorginho, so the Scot’s chances of game-time seem slim.

Additionally, Moyes told the BBC that Gilmour was the Scottish player who he wanted to sign more than anyone last year, so he clearly admires the teenager.

That could do wonders for his development, so it would be mutually beneficial for Chelsea to loan the prodigy to West Ham.
