Graeme Souness lauds Jesse Marsch as a ‘very good fit’ amid claims Leeds United could sack the American. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has been touted as a possible option.
Marsch has only been in charge since he replaced Marcelo Bielsa at the Elland Road helm in February. The Whites also handed the 48-year-old a three-year contract to become their head coach. But the club’s form in the Premier League has been unsteady so far this term.

AFC Bournemouth travel to West Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon to face a Leeds side that ranks 15th in the table. The Cherries also entered the weekend one point better off under interim boss Gary O’Neil. Both sides have won three times, but Leeds have played one less.

Leeds only claimed their third win of the season last time out with a surprise result away at Liverpool. Marsch orchestrated a 2-1 win at Anfield last Saturday to end a four-game losing streak. The Whites had not sealed all three points in a Premier League match since August.
Their previous top-flight win this season had come in a commanding performance at home to Chelsea. Leeds ran riot to torment the Blues and win 3-0 in week three of the campaign. Marsch had also led the Elland Road outfit to a 2-1 win against Wolves on the opening day.

Souness says Marsch is a ‘good fit’ at Leeds as Postecoglou is touted as an option
Souness believes Leeds’ performance in their 2-1 win at Liverpool showed their players are still buying into Marsch’s plans. He also feels the American is the right sort of manager for the Elland Road hot seat as he can match the hostility of the atmosphere on the touchline.
“A manager’s priority is to get the most out of the group of players he is working with,” Souness noted in a column for the Daily Mail. “If that was Leeds’ normal work rate, Marsch is getting as much as he can from them… Marsch is a very good fit for Leeds.
“He doesn’t mind making his feelings felt to officials on the touchline and so long as he doesn’t go overboard, I have no issues with that. Elland Road is the right stadium for that. as hostile an atmosphere as you will get in the Premier League.”

Souness’ praise for Marsch comes amid suggestions Leeds could sack the American. Dean Jones reports a change in manager is up for debate and that Celtic coach Postecoglou will ‘probably’ be considered. The Australian led the Hoops to the 2021/22 Premiership title.
Postecoglou took over at Parkhead in June 2021 and oversaw a complete overhaul of the playing squad in Glasgow. Yet the 57-year-old ended his debut campaign at the helm as a Premiership and League Cup winner. Celtic are now looking for back-to-back league titles.
