Gareth Bale told Sky Sports that Ryan Mason focused on the Tottenham players during his half-time team talk and dealt with a few ‘positional issues’.
Tottenham were losing 1-0 against Southampton at the break, but when they came back out, they looked far more positive and on the front foot.
Bale scored the first goal in the Mason reign, with Heung-Min Son netting the winner from the spot, that’s before he had an earlier strike ruled out for offside.
After the game, Bale shared what happened during the HT talk, which clearly worked given the result.
“We had a good chat at half-time,” said Bale. “A few things that we could kind of improve slightly and we came out in the second half and did that.
On the focus of the HT team-talk: “Just ourselves. A few positional issues with the team and to be a little bit more patient on the ball.
“Very good team talk at half-time and as I said we came out in the second half and played really well.”

Tottenham aren’t used to coming out after the break and producing the goods, but they did so yesterday.
Not only that, they came from behind to secure all three points, which was even more impressive.
But the real test will be Manchester City on Sunday and trying to overcome a relentless Pep Guardiola team at Wembley.
