Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jason Holt has made just one Scottish Premiership appearance this season, and he has discussed his Ibrox frustrations.

Holt was a regular member of the side during the Gers’ first season back in the Scottish Premiership – making 31 league appearances – but he has found opportunities much more difficult to come by this term.

The 24-year-old’s substitute appearance against Hamilton in the Light Blues’ final game before the international break was his first league outing of the campaign, with his other appearances coming in the Europa League or League Cup.
But with Ryan Jack suspended for the next game after being sent off against Accies, Holt is surely in contention to come in against St Johnstone when the season resumes. And ahead of the game next weekend, the former Hearts man opened up about the frustration of not being involved this term.

“My game-time has been really limited but what you need to do is just keep training hard and when you get that opportunity, you need to be ready. I think in the games I’ve been called upon, I’ve gone on and done well.
“It’s never nice not playing, but I’ve always been there and thereabouts with the squad, constantly training hard and just looking to impress the gaffer and try to get back in the team.”
Holt was extremely impressive against Hamilton, winning the penalty for the Gers’ fourth goal, and showing plenty of intent to win the ball back on a number of occasions even with the three points virtually in the bag.
And if he does get the nod against the Saints, he will know that he will have to sustain that kind of display for the entire game as Jack’s partnership with Graham Dorrans will surely tempt Caixinha to put the two back together again as soon as his suspension ends.
