Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is about to leave the Gunners for good, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter that Folarin Balogun is leaving Arsenal for AS Monaco in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Folarin Balogun to leave Arsenal for AS Monaco
Romano has claimed that Balogun will travel to Monaco on Tuesday to complete medical tests and then seal a permanent move to the Ligue 1 club.
Arsenal will receive a transfer fee of €40 million (£34.27 million) for the 22-year-old USA international striker.
Balogun did exceptionally well last season during his loan spell in France.
The striker made 34 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Reims last season.
The American star scored 21 goals and gave two assists in those games.
Arsenal clearly do not think that Balogun is good enough to play week in and week out in the first team.
Gabriel Jesus is the number one striker for Arsenal at the moment, and manager Mikel Arteta is unlikely to move away from that anytime soon.
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey rates Balogun highly, and he told The Sun in June that the striker is “a very exciting player” and is “good enough for the Premier League”.
We believe that Balogun needs/needed to leave Arsenal this summer so that he can find a new club where he could grow and develop.
Monaco are a massive club who regularly challenge for the Ligue 1 title.
We believe that the USA international striker is making the right decision in joining Monaco.
