Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough has urged Jamal Lewis to sign for Liverpool, with his comments to BBC Sport.
The Guardian have reported how Liverpool are keen on the Norwich City full-back, even though their first offer was rejected.
Lewis was relegated with Norwich last term, but Liverpool still saw enough in the prospect to suggest that he would be a strong addition at Anfield.
And the manager of his national side, Baraclough, is hoping that Lewis does make the switch to the Premier League champions.
“You want to have as many players playing at the highest level and we don’t have enough,” Baraclough said.
“If Jamal was to go there to work with the likes of Jurgen Klopp and the squad he has assembled it would be a massive boost to his career.
“If the move goes through for Jamal it would be very exciting – it’s a move that I wouldn’t be able to turn down – going to the newly crowned Premier League champions.

“Why wouldn’t you want to go to Liverpool and sign for them?”
Lewis may not actually receive as regular game time as he currently is if he was to move to Liverpool.
However, the prospect of watching the 22-year-old compete for a place with Andy Robertson is clearly exciting for the Northern Ireland boss.
Lewis proved his attacking quality at Norwich, and he clearly has the tools to become an outstanding full-back.
If he was brought to Liverpool he could become Klopp’s side’s first signing of the summer, with the Reds expected to have a fairly quiet transfer window.
