Sevilla hero Daniel Carrico fears the Europa League semi-finalists will lose the ‘incredible’ Diego Carlos this summer amid reported interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, while speaking to Marca.
While the late-blooming Brazilian had a moment to forget on Tuesday night, gifting Wolves a penalty after tripping the rampaging Adama Traore, he deserved the slice of luck that would follow moments later.
A brilliant Bono save denied Raul Jimenez the opener from 12 yards as Sevilla, thanks to a late Lucas Ocampos header, sealed a nervy 1-0 win late on to set up a semi-final clash with Manchester United.
Carlos’s moment of madness counted for nothing in the end, then, and a rare mistake is unlikely to put off his many suitors.
The Telegraph reported in July that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the commanding 27-year-old with Tottenham looking for a man capable of stepping into Jan Vertonghen’s boots.
Premier League winners Liverpool, meanwhile, have been linked since January and could turn to Carlos as they look to replace an experienced centre-half of their own – the departed Dejan Lovren (Daily Star).
And, given that Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has a proven track record when it comes to cashing in on players at the peak of their powers, Carlos’s exit would hardly come as a surprise.

“Diego is having an incredible season and I think it will be very difficult to keep him in this market. It is a very complete centre-back,” says Carrico, a three-time Europa League winner in Seville.
The Star adds that Sevilla want £70million for their rock-solid central defender.
The smart money, then, may be on Carlos spending another year in Spain with even England’s biggest clubs expected to keep their powder dry.
