Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Gareth Southgate substituted Harry Kane in the 63rd minute against San Marino last night.
What’s the story?
Well, the Tottenham No.10 smashed a number of records last night as he scored four goals to help England beat San Marino.
The 28-year-old now has 16 goals for England in 2021, which is a record for a calendar year.
Kane is also just the second player after Vivian Woodward to tally double figures in a year twice, having scored 12 England goals in 2019.
Before Southgate withdrew him in the 63rd minute, Kane managed to score his 48th goal for England, putting him level with Lineker.
The pair are now tied in third on England’s list of all-time scorers, although Kane has achieved the tally in just 67 caps, whereas it took Lineker 80.
Understandably, with the next international break not until March, Lineker was delighted to see Kane substituted, as it means he will not be pushed down to fourth on the list just yet.
Harry Kane could be greatest of all time for England

Amazingly, Kane is just six goals away from breaking Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 goals for England, and he’s only 28.
Realistically, with many years left at this level, the Spurs striker could score enough goals to make the record unmatchable.
Additionally, Kane could quite easily become the greatest England player of all time if his goals help the Three Lions to silverware.

Imagine that. A major international trophy, World Cup Golden Boot, and the title of leading scorer for England.
Should he surpass Rooney and also win silverware with his country, how could anybody argue against Kane being the greatest England player of all time?
Make no mistake about it, we are witnessing a great of the game.
