Liverpool are reportedly keeping an eye on Inter Milan striker and one-time Tottenham Hotspur target Lautaro Martinez this summer.
The Anfield outfit added Luis Diaz to their ranks in the January transfer window, beating Tottenham to the Colombia international’s signature.
However, Liverpool are apparently interested in further bolstering their attack when the next transfer window opens.
According to Marco Conterio, the edtior of TMW, Jurgen Klopp is ‘very closely’ monitoring the Argentine attacker.
He told Inter News: “Inter are moving and watching many players, but they are also watching many clubs be interested in their players. One above all is Lautaro Martinez, who is very popular in England. Liverpool are monitoring him very carefully.”
Tottenham still have a chance
It goes without saying that Liverpool can’t rely on Roberto Firmino forever.
However, the German manager already has a brilliant long-term replacement for the Brazilian in the form of Diogo Jota.
And that’s why Tottenham – if they’re still interested – shouldn’t give up hope just because the Reds are keen.
According to The Times in August, the Lilywhites agreed a £60 million deal with the Italian outfit to sign him.
And remember, this is a player who knows Tottenham manager Antonio Conte very well after playing under him at San Siro.
The speculation about a transfer to the Lilywhites has gone cold in recent months but if Fabio Paratici is still interested, Liverpool’s entry shouldn’t mean that it’s going to be Luis Diaz all over again.
